Humpff! Picked on for wearin' clothes!!

Recently, a chap I knows from here in blogville made a comment dat I wuz not da pup fur him cuz I likes wearin' clothes. Dis is true, I duz enjoy some cute duds. But just fur da record, dat is not why I always has to wear something.

See, I has bad enviromental allergees... real bad. My folks have spent big bucks tryin' everythin' short of da meds dat mess up yer immune system. Since I has a slight heart murmur I couldn't take dat Atopica or Alpoquel stuff evfun if I wanted... it would probably be a death sentence fur me.

Well, my allergees were pretty bad dis past year, despite all da holyistic treatments and allergee shots... I lost quite a bit of my fur on my back, legs, etc.... Now dat da vet has started me on sublingual allergee therapy, I's stabilized some and maybe some of my fur will grow back.

Which comes to why I always wears clothes... to protect my skin from sunburn and to protect me from myself. If I didn't, I would chew and scratch my skin somethin' awful. Plus da clothes help keep da allergens offa me... Dat's also why I's always gettin' baths, to get rid of the allergens.

Sorry if dis post aren't my usual funny stuff or kind of a downer, but my Momma gets sads cuz she makes Whitley and me all kinds of pretty dresses and usually I can't evfun wear dem cuz of my scratchin...

So if a guy pup don't like me cuz I wears clothes, dat's just fine with me. I knows I ain't as cute as I usta be, but my family luvs me just da way I is.

Before my allergies wuz so bad...

Nowadays...

As ya can see, I don't have the nice furs I usta have, my legs were totally hairless last fall but are startin' to grow some hair, and even my tail ain't as fluffy. If ya saw my back, you could see how the hair is so much thinner I might get sunburned if I didn't have some clothes on...But I's still da sweet pup I's always been...

Don't need no stinkin' boys anyway...

Bark ya later, gators.......

But that ain't right to pick on yu. Yu gotta protect yur poor lil hairless body. Yur clothes are cute but they jus ain't fur show. We feel so sorry fur yu seein yur lil hairless leggies an stuff. That mus' be jus awful to have those turrible itches like yu gots.
We jus hope those substitoot linguists (or whutefur) work better an better so's yu can be itch free!

  4. Yeah, you tell 'em. We love you anyway, and that's what counts. We don't wear clothes..because we just freeze if we have anything on us. Plus we're sort of your VERY MESSY dogs and SHE doesn't want to have to wash dogs AND do their laundry!

We think your mum makes wonderful clothes..SHE's hopeless with making anything. Just sayin'.

  6. Sometimes my momma puts me in a holiday themed shirt, or in the winter when it's all cold out a hoodie thing and a coat. I'm not exactly a fan of these things, personally, but that's just me.

However you...I always think you look super cute in all your pretty clothes, Finley! AND if they help you keep the icky allergie stuff off you and keep your from being sun burned...all the better!

  9. I wear 'outfits' with bribes...BOL!
At least they come off pretty quickly, like after a walk in the snowy trails, or a picture session.

I think its great that your Momma has solved the ' cover you up' problem very prettily and expertly, too Growlmy & I might add.

    And no matter:
    I love you clothed...
    I love you all wet...
I love you in flower fields...
    I love you dry!
I love you in scarcity of furs...
I love you in full furs...
Any way, Finley is Finley and I love you -
Just any way you are, or may be, or will be!
    Here is a thought:
Love is your clothes! Who can dress better than that?!

ps: I hope you do better this summer with the new medicines (and lots of clothes, BOL!)

    2. Need me to come and grump at them? Or use me teethies? I can snap like that snapper turtle, BOL!

    3. I can, too, Freckles... thanks fur da offur, but I prefurs to ignore dem!

      Delete
    4. Sometimes they actually want to have a reaction, they think its funny or something, so ignoring them is like letting them know that for one you are above them and not going to play their game(s), and secondly they get the message that you didn't know they were there, BOL!

  11. You knows what I have to say to him: PFFFFFFFT!!!! And kiss my ARSE!!!!
Nows, I don't wear frocks, cause they make me buck like a wild horse, butts that's just me ~ I don't judge any other doggie. I likes your clothes!!! I thinks you look FABulous and have a very cool fashion sense.
Nows, I sure hopes your allergies gets better. I have the allergies too, butts it just gives me the ear problems. I take the Benadryl. It helps lots, butts Ma wishes it made me sleepy. It doesn't. I'm fine with that, butts she says it would be nice to calm my hyperbutts down every once in a while...pffffft to that too!! hehehe
Anyhu, it's his loss! Just sayin'....

We's tried all da antihistamines... Benadryl didn't really work fur me and made me more hyper and snarly, too. I takes Zyrtec now....

    2. I had no idea a pup could take zyrtec!

  12. Aw, sweet Finley, You look great no matter WHAT you wear! It's like everybody's a darn critic, you know? The heck wif dem! You are a good woofie (well, I don't usually say "good" and "woofie" in the same sentence, but I'll make an exception today, ha ha meow!) You have a GREAT Mama who loves you and takes the very best care of you, and that's all that matters! XOXOXOX

    ReplyDelete
  13. Thanks, Spitty... I is a good woofie, cuz I likes kitties and I don't chase 'em... unlike some other pups in Blogville. Kitties has been some of my bestest furiends... especially when dey counter-surfs fur me... or leaves me some tasty kitty food to clean up outta their dish!

  14. I like your clothes, I wish they had some in the stores in my size too. I also have to battle with allergies, specially in spring and maybe it would help to cover the area with a pant. Have a good sunday :o)

  15. Dear Finley - I'm so sorry about your skin and fur loss. We can help you so much - tell Mommy to go onto Facebook and look for the group WESTIES HEALTH -- FROM EARS TO TAIL. There is so much information on skin - allergies - supplements that will help you. Post your picture with you question and our members will all chime in.

Please Contact Dr. Kay McGuire {who is the VP Health for the Westie Foundation of America} and who has a practice in Houston at Suburbia North Animal Hospital. Here is there number: 281-443-2362. Dr. McGuire also helps me on the health site - just say that Katie Wyatt sent you -

  16. Thank you for your concern. Finley has been to some of the top dermatological vets in the country and currently goes to Dr. Shawn Messonier, who if you have heard of holistic vets, I am sure you are aware of... as she stated, she is on multiple supplements and well as sublingual allergy therapy. Because of her heart, she is not a candidate for some drugs. She is one of those "tough cases" who, at best, can be kept "comfortably itchy".

  17. Oh Finley , I love your clothes. My mom makes me clothes alot. We Luvs you the way you are. Everybodys different thats what makes the world go round. You will find that Mr Wonderful I did (Sweet William) and he luvs dressin up too.

To end your confusion, Addi is Toms dog. Tom is moms son and they used to live here with us. Tom bought his own house last May so they moved out. We love each other so yah we call each other sisters.

  18. Oh no Finley, I feel terrible now. I fear this post is aimed at me. Please let me explain. It's just that Addi and I have this long running thing about me liking her 'cos she is not a stereotypical girlie girl, about how I appreciate difference and diversity. The 'no clothes' comment was absolutely not meant as a criticism of you. Oh and did you know that my predecessor Hamish the Westie also suffered from allergies and used to chew his feet, his elbows and his groin area all the time. Oh please believe me I am not unsympathetic to you poor dear pups who suffer with the itches. At least you have a Mom who clearly does her best too keep you as comfortable as could possibly be (as well as looking pretty). Oh and of course, living in Scotland, it never even crosses my mind that one's condition might be aggravated by the sun, we see so little of it here..
So please accept my humble apologies dear Finley.
    Can we be friends?
    Bertie.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Sure, Bertie. I just gots my feelin's hurt cuz sometimes people say mean things to Momma and me when they see me...especially about me wearin' clothes.

And yep, I did know about Hamish and his allergeez... we usta read his blog 'fore we evfun gots me a blog.... so I wuz doubly confuserated about why you'd pick on my clothes since you told me about Hamish when I wrote earlier in da year 'bout my allergeez and clothes wearin'....

And I ain't all dat girly... I's got 3 rat kills and 1 field mouse fatality to my credit.

I's okay with you prefurrin' Addi.... but I don't really needs to keep on hearin' 'bout how she's better than me. It were all Charlie's ideer anyway.... he's a good bloke but a lousy matchmaker...

  20. Hey Fin, I gots a real deal question fur yu.
Afore yu got yur itchies, how did yur peepoles tell yu an Whitley apart? I mean, to me, all yu LWDs look alike. :-0
There's probly sum lil differences though. Whut wuz they?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well, Whitley has ALWAYS been furrier-- all da vets we has evfur been to remark on da lushness of her coat--it's like a triple coat or sumthin'-- ya think she could spare some of da fuzziness fur me... but NOOOOOOO. Secondly, she has bigger ears and a pointier face than me... and her hair's wavier and coarser. I's a lil bit bigger in height and length than her. And most of all, she are da one dat is ALWAYS barkin'.... onliest thing I taught her to bark wuz da mailman. Before me, she didn't. Don't know how he got left off her barkin' list... almost evfurryone and evfurrything else is on it!!

    1. I meant Besides the barkin! Bol! Like if yu wuz both sleepin side by side. Or does she bark in her sleep? Bol!

Thanks fur answerin. I Knew there wuz sum differences atween yu two. :-)

  22. Why that mean dog picking on a girl who wears nice cloths. I don't need to wear clothes but sometimes Lee dresses me. Why Lee is even looking at getting me kilts and I hears that is a boy scots skirt. Well who ever said that to you I don't like them either. So if they read my comment I say take that you mean person. In Mr. Pip's book he say we should be KIND and be DIFFERENT. They need some lessons in manners.
    Thanks for being a friend
